Laurie Longenecker has
been a professional artist since she began her artistic life
as a Fabric Designer in New York City after graduating with a
BFA in Design from Syracuse University.
When she made the move to the West Coast she put
her design talents to work as a graphic designer. She worked
and still works, designing award-winning projects for companies
both big and small. She is responsible for designing an entire
line of packaging for Newman's Own Organics, the natural product
division of Paul Newman's charitable food product company.
When not wearing her graphic designer hat you can find her in
her painting studio. After taking a watercolor workshop in Provence
a few years ago she fell in love with watercolor painting and
started to paint as much as possible.
"It never ceases to amaze me. I
can allow the paint to be loose and free or tighten up and
control the medium. Regardless of which approach I take it
is a medium that celebrates the very spirit of color by the
simple act of putting paint on paper, creating an immense
feeling of joy. I want to share that joy with other people." |
